About Ice Skating Near You

Searching for a place to skate should be simple. In practice it often means digging through outdated lists, closed rinks, and pages that never mention whether there is a public session this weekend.

Ice Skating Near You exists to make that search easier. Our goal is to be the most useful independent directory of public ice skating rinks in the US: indoor arenas, community rinks, and outdoor and seasonal rinks, all in one place.

What the site is

We are a directory, not a rink operator and not a booking service. We do not sell tickets, take reservations, or handle payments. We collect, clean, and organize public information about rinks so you can find one nearby and decide where to go.

We add rinks every time our data is refreshed, and whenever readers tell us about a place we are missing.

How it is organized

• By state. Start at Browse by state to see every state we cover.
• By city. Each state page links to city pages listing the rinks in and around that town.
• Rink pages. Every rink has its own page with address, phone, website, hours where available, rating, and a map.
• Features. Rinks are tagged with features such as indoor, outdoor, hockey, figure skating, and lessons.
• Map and search. Use search to look up a city or rink, or let the map sort rinks by distance from you.
• Guides. Our blog has practical guides for new skaters, parents, and anyone planning a trip to the rink.

Where our data comes from

Listings are built from public business listing data. Specifically, we use Google Maps business profile information gathered through a third-party data provider, Outscraper. It is imported in bulk and refreshed periodically.

Ratings and review counts are Google's public figures at the time of import. They are not our opinion of a rink, and we do not write or edit reviews.

Feature tags are derived automatically from each business's own listing text. If a rink does not mention hockey or lessons in its listing, we may not tag it, so the tags can be incomplete.

Photos, where shown, are served from Google's image servers and belong to their owners or uploaders. When no photo is available, we show our own illustration instead.

The honest limitation

Rink schedules change constantly. Public skate sessions get moved for hockey games, tournaments, figure skating competitions, private events, and holiday hours. Outdoor rinks open and close with the weather.

Bulk data cannot keep up with all of that, so treat what you see here as a starting point. Always confirm sessions, hours, and prices with the rink before you go. Our disclaimer explains this in more detail.

How rinks are ranked

Within a city or state, rinks are ordered by their Google rating weighted by review volume. A rating backed by many reviews counts for more than the same rating backed by a handful.

In practice, that means a rink with a 5.0 from 3 reviews does not outrank a rink with a 4.7 from 900 reviews. When you use your location, you can also sort rinks by distance.

Nobody can pay to move up the list. We do not currently offer paid placement or featured listings.

How we make money

The site is free to use, and being listed is free. It is funded by display advertising served by Google AdSense. We do not use affiliate links, and ads do not influence which rinks we list or how they are ranked.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any rink listed on this site. We do not inspect rinks, verify safety practices, or check instructor qualifications. A listing is not a recommendation.

Help us improve

The directory gets better every time someone points out a mistake. If you spot wrong hours, a rink that has closed, or a rink we are missing, please contact us by email. Rink owners can also ask us to correct or remove a listing.
